You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT
For about ninety minutes, Manhattan native Dan Levene was a multimillionaire.
“I just started laughing. I mean I really laughed. Clearly this account did not have this much money in it to start the day,” Levene said.
Levene noticed that his stock trading account had $89.9 million more in it than it should have and that it was available for immediate withdrawal. Instead of rushing out to spend his new funds or trying to reinvest the money, Levene called the bank that made the error to his account.
When unexpected money shows up in your bank account, it is probably a banking error. As Christians, even the unexpected wealth we are promised after death didn’t come without a cost. Jesus paid our penalty, becoming poor for our sake. His sacrifice has given us a windfall that we get to keep for eternity.
Thank God for His rich mercy and grace!
Prayer: Lord, I am rich because of Your poverty. Thank You for taking the punishment on my behalf. Thank You for giving me a share in Your kingdom. Help me generously share the wealth of Your grace with others around me.
