regarding my prior comment on the co2 we are emitting into the atmosphere (and methane and other chemicals which trap heat very well)
this should.. stop the next ice age. if you believe the official reason for why there is a 12000 year ice age cycle.. which we are due for soon.
here's why;
what allegedly drives the 12k ice age cycle is the difference in land mass in the upper and lower hemisphere.
earth has an elliptical orbit where the distance from the sun varies by about 2%. this doesn't matter from one year to the next.
but on a 12K cycle, when it is summer in the northern hemisphere the earth is close to the sun. in winter its far away.
6K years later, when it is winter in the northern hemisphere the earth is closer to the sun, in winter its closer.
the difference is something like .5 watts per square meter because the northern hemisphere has more land which soaks up more heat than the southen hemisphere does.
we have easily offset more than .5 watts per square meter from the co2 we added and should not have an ice age this time around, which is utterly fantastic for humanity. problem being, the kings of the earth may decide we've warmed it up too much and we need to cull humanity. they may get it wrong, overshoot by putting big mirrors in space to reflect the sunlight.. and we have an ice age anyways.

The next ice age may be 1500 years away. Globally we have about 10 years in which to radically deal with greenhouse gas pollution if we are to avoid catastrophic consequences.
Hi Hekuran, thats a very hard question for me to answer, for after many years of trying to bring a little light into the darkness of this World i think ive lost nearly all my faith in humanity, and this problem is so vast and so interconnected with the many other problems we face, such as Deforestation, Ocean Acidification, Soil Erosion and Land Degradation, the Polluting of the Rivers and oceans, the Poisoning of the Air we breathe and our Exploitation and oppression of the Animal Kingdom, that to deal with it effectively would take a complete transformation of the way we live our lives.
And i just cant ever see that happening, for at the root of it all is Human Sin on a staggering scale and it would take an equally staggering transformation of Humanity to even start to put things right.
This is not a counsel of despair, for i still campaign on many climate related and environmental issues, as i do on human and Animal rights issues and any victory is well worth fighting for, but there is an increasing realisation that only God can put this right and each day that passes makes me long more for the day when God calls an end to all of this suffering and destruction,
Thats what i pray for every day, but if pushed i would say that one of the key issues that needs our prayers is for the rich countries to honour their commitment to provide £100 billion in funds for poor countries who are at the moment suffering the worst effects of climate change. And for the issue of Debt, Tax evasion and money laundering to be addressed. So that any money given to poor countries is not sent back to the rich world in debt repayments on loans that in some cases should never have been made , in others the money was stolen or put into corrupt ventures. Climate finance and funds for adaptation are vital if the poor are to have any chance of weathering the storm to come.
Of course commitments to drastically cut Carbon emissions are essential but i wonder if weve passed the point of no return, things are moving so fast, but while theres a chance to do good we must seize it.
I would also like to see a dramatic switch from meat based diets to vegetarian or preferably vegan diets not only for the terrible suffering the animals endure but also for the fact that animal farming is the main cause of deforestation and is a leading contributor, around 15% i think, of greenhouse gas emissions, and there is the ever present problem of another COVID like virus incubating in the filthy conditions found on factory farms.
And lastly, theres likely to be a scramble for materials for sustainable methods of energy generation, solar, wind, tidal, and i believe many of the raw materials are to be found in poorer countries. There must be a firm and binding agreement on the rights of poor countries to regulate and receive fair payments for these materials, above all it must be done in a transparent manner, no more rip offs and environmental destruction, the rights of the poorer countries must be respected.
ive just scratched the surface, as i say theres so much that needs to be changed that ultimately only God can do, so as well as praying for these specific items and there must be many that you have as well, i think we all need to pray for an end to this Hell we've created and long for the day when suffering and destruction are no more.

As with most things in this World the root cause is the love of Money. Rich, industrialised Nations have built their economies on the burning of fossil fuels, Corporations have made huge profits out of the sale and use of of Fossil fuels and the citizens of the rich countries have built their lifestyles on expanding economies and the fruits of this industrialisation. And we have voted in politicians who have been committed to maintaining the status quo, for whos going to vote for a substantial cut in living standards, who is going to accept that we must consume less and share more of what we have.
So a tacit accommodation has been made between the people and the Government and Corporations who have been destroying the planet, Even now, at this late stage, with the CEOs of the big Oil and Gas companies testifying before Congress, Politicians , mainly Republicans , have been lining up to defend their paymasters and Bidens scheme to massively enlarge the renewable Energy sector, Build Back better, is meeting stiff opposition in congress.
So all of us that have benefitted from the consumption of fossil fuels bear a responsibility for whats happening now. For in our lifestyles, in our voting, in our apathy when scientists were screaming out the dangers of Global warming, we have contributed to the destruction to come. Its not a question of "keeping ourselves unspotted from the world", for we are in this mire up to our necks, its a question of are we going to ask Gods forgiveness for what weve done, repent of our actions and do all we can to try to alleviate any further damage to the Earth and help those people, especially in poorer countries, who are bearing the brunt of the destructive effects of Climate Change.
