I put my brother Hanani and Hananiah, the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem. Hananiah was a trustworthy man, and he feared God more than most people do. Nehemiah 7:2 GW

Dedicated, Godly, Honest, Honorable, Full of integrity, Reliable, Upright, Wholehearted, Good humored, Impeccable character, Sterling reputation, Trustworthy. When asked to describe another man, you have a range of terms to endorse him.

In the verse above, Nehemiah endorsed Hannaniah as "a TRUSTWORTHY MAN" WHO "FEARED God more than most people do."

Two landmark books show us how to be trustworthy men who fear God.

1. TrueFaced: Trust God and Others with Who You Really Are by Bill Thrall, Bruce McNicol, and John Lynch. The authors emphasize the pivotal role of trust. Without trust, they argue, men effectively shut out God and others from speaking into their character development and lives.

2. Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box. This international mainstream bestseller applies what turns out to be the Golden Rule and a few other biblical principles to daily life. Foundational truth of this book: all men have blind spots. By definition, men can't identify or address their own blind spots. Instead, they need to invite respected, trusted individuals to speak into their lives with love and truth.

Prayer: Lord, I want to be a trustworthy man who fears You.
