Trust in the Lord
Proverbs 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.
In 1989 I was diagnosed with an AVM in my brain. I was told by one doctor to go home and forget about it and I would probably have 10 years to live. With the encouragement of my family doctor I sought several other opinions. I was given a choice of surgery that was dangerous or a brand new procedure that was experimental at that time.
Bobbie and I prayed about it and felt led to travel to the University of Virginia where I would undergo the experimental procedure. On the way to Virginia we prayed and asked for signs that we were following Gods’ direction. We felt that we received four clear signs that HE was with us and we were following HIS direction.
The first sign were three crosses that we saw on hilltops. Not once but three times as we traveled. The second was after we were led to stop for dinner; on the way out we saw a beautiful stained glass window depicting Jesus. Had we not stopped we never would have seen the window because it was dark and the window lighted. The third was the name of the street leading to the Hospital was named Mary Avenue at the time we lived on Mary Lane. We felt this was truly a sign like we were coming home.
At the end of a successful procedure which was in an MRI tube, a song was playing on the CD I had chosen to play to keep me calm. The title was, “There’s a Light at the End of the Tunnel.” This was the fourth sign and we knew then that God was with us through this whole ordeal and all we had to do was trust and follow HIS lead.
