True Worship
Let's talk about Worship. John 4 tells of a day when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth, for those are the kind of worshippers He seeks. It's not where you worship that is important, but rather whom you worship and how you worship that really counts. More than what you do at church each Sunday, worship is a lifestyle. In truth, what and whom you worship is evidenced by your lifestyle and your heart's desires. All people, regardless of what they think, bow down before something or someone. It is critical for the believer to worship Christ alone. The false gods of religion, self, fame, power, riches, and even happiness, clog our souls and displace room designed for God alone to fill.
If you are a person who wants to be "on fire" for Jesus Christ, then you need some fuel to kindle your soul. Since God desires those who worship in Spirit and in Truth, then it only stands to reason that His Truth is what can fuel our souls. Jesus said that his "food" was to obey God. Is that so with you? Is obedience to God food for your soul? On the other hand, many of us fall into the category of those who "profess me with their lips, but whose hearts are far from me." Let's not worship God in vain. True worship is based on the Truth of Scripture and encompasses the whole dimensions of the heart. Deep feelings; strong passions; earnest desires; a longing to know God and be known by Him. These are all a part of worshipping in Spirit and in Truth. If we hunger and thirst for righteousness, we shall be filled, according to Jesus. Well then, we need to get HUNGRY. Stop settling for pathetic earthly substitutes. Don't let anything or anyone, including yourself, stand in your way as you hungrily pursue God. Only He can satisfy your soul, and in doing so He will reverse the cycle of death and enlarge your capacity to love and be loved. God be with you all...
