So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." Luke 18:22 NKJV

Where is your treasure? It’s a question that never loses power because it’s one that helps you pursue God’s grace and mercy. When your most important treasure is Jesus, your life will be powerfully transformed.

God created you to be in fellowship with Him always. Many things in this world, however, don’t bring eternal benefit but instead can take you off track in your relationship with God. That’s where the enemy slips in and tempts you to believe that you can do anything you want and still serve Jesus. But God calls you to a life focused on obedience to Him, a life in which you pursue true treasure.

Pray and ask God to help you inventory the things you give your time and heart to. Spend your time praising instead of planning. Ask Him to show you how you can best store up true treasure, the kind that lasts forever.

Prayer: Lord, show me what I need to get out of my life so that I can follow and serve You wholeheartedly. I don’t want to waste my life chasing after things You’re not a part of. Show me what to concentrate on, and help me to store up treasures in heaven

I believe having our hearts set on the treasures in Heaven is so that we would not be tempted to stay behind for the treasures down here and thus not be willing to go when the Bridegroom comes..

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Makes me wonder if that is not part of the warning not to be like Lot's wife; wanting to go get that treasure as if we can take it with us or something. When He appears, we have to be willing to leave all behind with His help.

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

32 Remember Lot's wife.

33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
