You know deep down within your spirit that you should be setting aside a time each day to study God's Word, but you're too busy. Busy doing what? You're telling me you're too busy to spend time with the God Who created you! You're too busy to spend time with the One Who can give supernatural wisdom from heaven. You're too busy to spend time with the One Who woke you up this morning and gives you every breath you take. You're telling me you're too busy to spend some quality time reading the Bible, letting God speak to your heart, and give you answers to problems you've got going on in your life right now! How foolish is that!

God will never leave you, nor forsake you, but if you choose to rush through every day without spending some quality time in His Word, don't expect to experience His peace. If you spend time reading the Bible, 15 min. or 30 min; however long the Holy Spirit wants you to sit with Him, then the rest of the day, no matter what you need to do, you will have God's peace. You will have that calmness inside because God Himself in the Person of the Holy Spirit will be walking with you everywhere you go, showing you what to do, telling you what to say, and filling you with His love. In John 14:23, Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

How can we obey Him if we don't study the Bible. And, some people just pick and choose what they want to study. Like they only read Psalms and Proverbs. We should study these books, and all the other books! When was the last time you studied from the New Testament? The whole book of Galatians talks about sanctification-how to live for God on a daily basis. This is where our focus should be now that Christ lives in us.

A quick little prayer here and there is not enough. Jesus tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "Pray without ceasing." Do you pray throughout the day? Jesus tells us to pray without ceasing because that's how the Holy Spirit can help us. He already knows what we need, but He wants to hear from our spirit that we trust Him and depend on Him. When we depend on the Holy Spirit dwelling within, He will put on our hearts what we should pray about as we go about our day. He can't help us if we don't communicate with Him. God communicates with us through His Word more than any other way.

If your child doesn't communicate with you about something he/she needs, you will not be able to help them. We've heard it over and over again how important communication is, and it is! But the most important communication we have the privilege of having is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If we don't keep that channel of communication open, we will not have the best life God promises us.

How can we obey God if we don't know Him and how can we know Him if we're too busy to study the Bible. When we ignore His Word, we are hindering the help of the Holy Spirit within us. Joshua 1:8-This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.

If Jesus Christ is your Savior and you believe you will be with Him in heaven one day, then until that day, it's your responsibility to study the Bible on your own. It's my responsibility to study the Bible on my own. We are to study it, learn it, apply it to our lives, and share it with others. God expects us to know His Word. You and I were created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Yes, enjoy Him! We enjoy our friends when we know them. We enjoy God when we know Him.

Father, we know we were created by You to worship You. We learn about Who You are and what you desire of us when we study Your Word. Show us a place where we can spend some quality time studying Your Word. A quiet place without any distractions where we can hear You speak to our hearts. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Love in Christ,
Jan
