KJV 1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 We should never teach anything that goes against bible and never hold anything on the same level as the bible, many people don’t spend enough time with the bible even those who teach the bible. Sound doctrine comes straight out of scripture.

2 This is to allow them to be in a place where they could fully serve God. They were to be full in their senses. They were to a good head on their shoulders. They had to be in control of their actions this also could mean controlled their emotions and behavior. They are to be strong in biblical faith, faith in Jesus. They are have God’s love and live it out to others. They are having to stay strong and continue to be like this and have to growth to the Lord, we all should as Christians strive to be like this.

Yes, @clark thompson
"Do not curse the deaf (don't be angry if others don't understand or care) or put a stumbling-block before the blind (we shouldn't lead unlearned to sin or to misunderstanding the gospel with our sayings), but fear your Elohim. I am Yahuah" (Leviticus 19:14).

16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
1 But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. Titus 1:16, 2:1

To me you really need to add Titus 1:16 to have the proper perspective to understand Titus 2:1.

It's a comparison of behavior, against the very words that are spoken. It speaks of those who profess to be believers, and yet have actions that are contrary to the very words they speak. So, a difference is made between those others who speak one way and do another, and the readers of this letter who we can believe are doers, but need a reminder for their words to be as it says "fitting for sound doctrine".

Adding Titus 2:2 just continues this thread into a more specific area of behavior for "older men" and continues on to "older women".

Thanks for the words dear brother.
