And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12 NLT
When the Creator declared, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” (Genesis 1:26), He gave man an incredible gift: “The Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7). The “breath of life” allowed man to think, feel, and fellowship with God. But sin ruined that perfect arrangement, and the spirit of man became corrupt, separated from the giver. Things went downhill quickly: “The Lord…saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil” (Genesis 6:5).
The answer to the problem was a second incredible gift: “I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart” (Ezekiel 36:26). And we have that promise fulfilled in Christ: “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and ring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26). God delights in sharing His thinking and His plans with you through the Spirit!
Prayer: Lord, grant that my thinking today will reflect the presence of the Helper you’ve given me.
