I was in the chat room the other evening and mentioned that the words we speak have a direct impact on the world we live in. One persons answered that what I said was superstition. I just want to share this verse. Usually we only use the one single verse but look.

Matthew 12:36-38 (King James Version)

36But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

What do you think? Of course Christians will not be condemned but we will be answerable.

Can you define "idle word"?

Then doesn't this seem contrary to the concept "our words" have power?

Now its your turn to explain. How is it contrary?
For example;I wake up this morning with some sickness. Should I say "I'm sick I think I'm gonna die" Or should I say "By Jesus stripes I am healed. Sickness, you get out"

Which are the idle words. Which words contradict Gods Words?

OK, if words like I'm sick are idle words, ie words that are "non working" then confessing that I'm sick has no outcome and doesn't cause anything.

Not at all. Confessing sickness or the like will just give you more sickness or the like. Or worse. On top of that, speaking contrary to Gods Word is profanity. You are calling God a liar in essence. You are confirming the word of the enemy. Satan is the author of sickness and death, not God. If you confess, "I am sick" you give Satan's word the power in your life.
You always want to find out what God says about any situation and that's what you say about it. Just like Jesus did.

And your statement here is contrary to your definition of "idle words". Do you have any scripture that states Satan is the author of sickness and death?

These verses do not use the word 'author' but they show clearly who plays with sickness and death.

John 10:10 (Amplified Bible)

10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).

Hebrews 2:14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Deu 11:26 ¶ Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;

Deu 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:

Deu 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

2Ch 21:14 Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

2Ch 21:15 And thou [shalt have] great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

Ok So you step out of the Light into the darkness and the monsters will get you. Ya That's where the monsters live, so stay in the Light. Right? The curse cannot land on you if you stay in the Light.

you have what you say!!!

Idle Words.................

Seems Hombre has made a new friend!!!!!

Jiggyfly
And your statement here is contrary to your definition of "idle words". Do you have any scripture that states Satan is the author of sickness and death?

Idle words must be taken in the Context Jesus said.. something from the Heart. As we know that no man can tame his own tongue, that tongue must be controlled though our heart. (spirit man) This in part is being filled with the Word, which produces something called faith. Not only that but the word will change ones belief system.

James said we receive with meekness the en grafted word that it may save our souls...... (Mind) (thinking)

So a idle word would come out without any thought action. It would be from the heart, and therefore is valid enough to be judged.

What you sow in, will come out of your mouth.

That is why we are told to guard our heart with all diligence for out of the abundance of the Heart the mouth speaks. (The issues of life come from the heart) We are also told that our life, or our death is in the power of our own tongue. Hence we guard our heart... (12 hour Friday the 13th marathon anyone??)

As for Satan causes sickness, there is no specific scripture that say that. We do have Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil. Satan bound these 18 years, a mans son walking in the fire, possessed by devils. Satan entered in the hearts of Ananias and Sapphira Killing them.

Satan put boils on Job............ and the thief came to steal, kill and destroy.

Anything that is ruining the quality of your life, like sickness, you can bet that Satan or some evil spirit is behind it. We are told not to give the devil place.

Paul even sent Satan......... Not God on someone for the destruction of the flesh. (God would not do that. Don't make me go though deut 28.........)

We have more than enough evidence that Satan is the author of sickness and death.

When Adam obeyed Satan, He became the servant who he obeyed. (Romans somewhere) That is why one mans sin, death reigned.

Jesus Is Lord.

OK guys what do you think of these scriptures? Who caused sickness here?

Gen 20:18 For the LORD had stricken all the women with infertility as a warning to Abimelech for having taken Abraham's wife.

Num 14:35 I, the LORD, have spoken! I will do these things to every member of the community who has conspired against me. They will all die here in this wilderness!"

1Sa 25:38 About ten days later, the LORD struck him and he died.

2Sa 6:7 Then the LORD's anger blazed out against Uzzah for doing this, and God struck him dead beside the Ark of God.

2Ki 15:5 The LORD struck the king with leprosy, which lasted until the day of his death; he lived in a house by himself. The king's son Jotham was put in charge of the royal palace, and he governed the people of the land.

2Ch 21:18 It was after this that the LORD struck Jehoram with the severe intestinal disease.

Act 12:23 Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people's worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.

Act 13:11 And now the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be stricken awhile with blindness." Instantly mist and darkness fell upon him, and he began wandering around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.

Oh my..............

Yeah Mike you do the work and I'll cheer you on.

God Killed?!!

I've been pondering on that one myself. The Word says God is Life. So death is not in Him. Everything good comes from God. Conversely, everything bad comes from the Devil. Am I right so far?

OK In the Old Covenant it says in several places "God killed them" (paraphrased) or "God made them sick" But God is NOT a killer, He's a lifer. Did He change? Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;... Hmmm Ok. So if the bible says God killed, and He is not a killer, then the wording in the Old Covenant books must be off, inaccurate.

What do you say?

Umm.

There is Nothing in the Word that is inaccurate or off.... If your going to teach this stuff, then Your going to get people bringing up these types of scriptures.

Job
Paul's Thorn
Paul left Trophimus sick
God made this man blind so he could get glory... (As if we were going to run out of blind and sick if God did not)

OT:

I will send plague, and so on.............

People full of doubt and unbelief, come up with these scriptures, thinking they are cleaver, but it's sad as it shows they don't even Know God.

First the Hebrew does not have passive tenses Like we do. So scriptures that say God will cause sickness, should be God allows sickness.

This is the most problematic case in Hebrew to English translations. So where there is a Passive tense in Hebrew, it has been translated to a causative in English.

For example.......... I will harden Pharaoh's heart........ I will allow Pharaoh's heart to be hardened.

We know that Pharaoh's hardened his own heart, and in English bibles God is helping him right along.

Young's Literal Translation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Young is one of Many Hebrew Scholars that have pointed this out.

One does not need the exact meaning of Hebrew though to figure this out........ People just need to take time and compare scriptures.

For example. God said if you will not listen to my Word and obey, then you are cursed with a curse. Deut 28.........

Deu 28:22 The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

Now the curse was already running it's course on the Earth. Is God the one really doing all the destruction??

No, God just simply turns his back on you............... We also know this by Robert Young and many other Hebrew Experts.

Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Even if we over look the verb issues between Hebrew and English.
We still have many places where God said I will not hear you, I will turn my back, Go pray to your false gods for help... And so on.

God must Judge!!!!

Another Aspect of God is that he is righteous and must judge......... However you will see all the bad things that happened, Happened to those that did not serve and love God... God wants to protect, and heal.. We know this by what He has said many times.

Choose who you will serve. Life or death. Blessing or cursing.

Jer 25:31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.

Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Mic 6:2 Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

If you look at God's Nature, he never wants things destroyed, or sick, or broken. He has constantly tried to reason with people and nations. If people refuse, then they suffer the effects of the Curse........ The Law of sin and death!!!!!

Isa 54:14
In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
Isa 54:15 Behold, they shall surely gather together (Fear and terror), but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

God is not the one bringing the fear and terror...........He is not destroying. He must judge though, and after he has pleaded his case with you

Christians that use these scriptures must put themselves in the place of those that don't love God.......... Why they use these scriptures is beyond me. Dumb I guess. If you obey and serve God, you will eat the good of the Land.

My Pastor did a series on this, about God causes this and that. he talks about Job, Paul's thorn, God made this one blind.

My Pastor studied under Kenneth Hagan for 20 years and is good friends with Kenneth Copeland.

If you would like to hear the series and get a good foundation to defend the truth in the Word against silly people just give me a PM and I'll send you to the place where you can download and listen.

It's all FREE and no sign up!!!!

That's what I'm talking about Mike. The translations have 'mistakes' not the Word. I've never thought any part of the Word was wrong. The translators had problems with meanings, grammar, and syntax.

Yep.

Most places are like this, but it would be in Error to apply it to all places where God said he would do something..........

Jesus Is Lord.
