WHERE'S YOUR CONFIDENCE?
'Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.' JEREMIAH 17:7
Samson was a heavy dude in the old days of Israel, a dread-locked hero who had amazing physical strength but a weakness for women. He kept the secret of his strength to himself, but eventually he got cocky and blabbed to his girl; bad move.
Judges 16:19 says 'She called to a man to shave off the seven braids of his hair...and his strength left him'. The consequences for Samson were disastrous; he tried to fight like before but got absolutely battered. His ego had become bigger than his faith. He was no good to anyone.
Jesus said 'Apart from me you can do nothing' (John 15:5). So be careful. Make sure you trust more in your bended knees than your metaphorical muscles (the stuff you are good at) 'Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit' (Jeremiah 17:5-8 NIV). With God you are strong; without Him you are weak!
Think about the things going on in your life and ask 'Should I flex my muscles or bend my knees and pray?' You know the answer!
