Seeing others the right way
'IF YOU LOVE SOMEONE YOU WILL...ALWAYS BELIEVE IN HIM, ALWAYS EXPECT THE BEST OF HIM.' 1 CORINTHIANS 13:7
We humans are rubbish at seeing people for whom they could be. Most of the time we can't be bothered to look for what God sees in someone because all we see is faults! The problem is that the people you don't think much of probably have an amazing future awaiting them! In fact, if you knew their potential you'd keep your negative mouth shut and invest more time and energy into them.
Remember Joseph? Don't make the mistake his brothers made. The person who completely does your head in today, could be the one you turn to for help tomorrow. So keep that in mind and treat them graciously! The point is, looks can lie, we need to go deeper. Remember Ruth, the immigrant working for less than minimum wage? She became the wife of Boaz, who owned the fields she worked in! In the future it's highly likely you'll meet a Ruth-type person so treat her like Jesus would!
What about a more seasonal example? At the heart of the Christmas story is Mary, the mother of Jesus, looking for a place to spend the night and have her baby? It was the opportunity of a lifetime for a local inn-keeper to get in on the action and prepare the best room in the house to bring the Saviour of the world into the world but all except one left her and her unborn child out on the street.
Don't miss a God-moment just because it's a bit inconvenient! Take another look at the person you don't think you have the time for. Ask God today to help you see what He sees in them!
