'FAN INTO FLAME THE GIFT OF GOD, WHICH IS IN YOU' 2 TIMOTHY 1:6
Right at the beginning of time God made all that we see in a sequence of amazing creative acts. Have you ever thought that when He made the living things, everything from oak trees to orang-utans, He made them full of potential? Not one of the living things we will find on the face of the earth simply appears by magic in its finished form and then disappears again without rhyme or reason. No, everything has a cycle of growth and everything has the potential to multiply.
The thing that sets us apart from every other living thing on the face of the earth is that our potential is not just biological; there's a bigger reason for us being here! In your life there is spiritual potential. That means there are promises and possibilities stored up for you to discover. Jesus makes this really clear 'Everything is possible for him who believes' (Mark 9:23) and Peter adds, 'He has given us His very great and precious promises' (2 Peter 1:4).
Sometimes we can have tunnel vision when it comes to considering what God may be calling us into. Our ideas can get very rigid and we start to lose any sense of flexibility. If we learn anything from looking at the way God has journeyed with his creation since those original mighty acts it is this; God gives the potential and then offers the freedom it needs to be worked out. The question is how are you using that freedom? Are you taking every opportunity to become the radical disciple you were created to be? If not; why not?!
