Not a tame Lion

'LOOK, THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH... HAS WON THE VICTORY.' REVELATION 5:5

OK, this might sound obvious but God is not your pet. In 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' by CS Lewis, the great lion, Aslan, is based on Jesus.

Mr. Beaver describes him like this, 'He's wild, you know. Not like a tame lion.' Do you believe in a tame God? If you do you can't be reading the Bible very much. There are loads of stories of people who did stuff that God had made quite clear were totally out of order and yes, you guessed it, they didn't survive to tell the tale. Sure, God has an infinite ability to be patient and gracious but when He decides that it's time to make a point He'll go right ahead without asking anybody's permission, He doesn't need to, He's God.

There was this guy called Uzzah ( 2 Samuel 6), who happened to be part of a procession that involved bringing a special box called 'the ark of the covenant' to King David. The box was special because God had poured His very essence into it; this was one seriously holy box.

Maybe Uzzah played goalie for the local team because when the box started to topple off the cart it was being towed on he reached out to stop it falling. But by doing this he touched what belonged exclusively to God. He didn't live to tell the tale.

That's hardcore isn't it? But you know what it tells us? God is God and He doesn't need human help. He understands the situation better than you ever could and when the time is right He'll 'do wonders never before done' (Exodus 34:10 NIV).
