Don't try this on your own (4)
'JESUS I KNOW, AND PAUL I KNOW...BUT WHO ARE YOU?' ACTS 19:15
We're gonna spend just one more day on this intriguing incident:
6) Don't bother using the name of Jesus unless you have made Him Lord. Paul knew about Jesus, he met Him face-to-face on the dusty Damascus Road and his life was revolutionised. The same will happen when you make Jesus the Lord of your life; no, not just your mate, your boss! Then you can use His name in all its true power.
7) Why settle for anything less than a direct relationship with Him? These guys said to the spirit, 'Come out in the name of that same Jesus that Paul preaches about!' (Acts 19:13 CEV) Er, aren't you giving the game away there guys? You don't know this Jesus at all do you?
No wonder they took such a beating! If these guys had just stopped for a minute to consider that Paul's ability to heal and deliver people was not found in his own special power but through his relationship with the One 'who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand-with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him' (1 Peter 3:22 NIV).
Have you got that direct relationship with Him? If not you can enter into it right here and right now. Jesus is only a prayer away. You don't need to say any fancy words; you just need to be honest about the fact that you've been going your own way. Then you need to tell Him that you want today to be a U-turn day when you're going to stop following your own feelings and start following Him.
