'We become more like Him.' 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18
Becoming like Jesus Christ isn't like Evan Almighty! You won't start growing a beard (good news, eh girls!) but you will grow character. Magazines and TV programmes talk a lot about changing your style, your waistline and even your bra size but they never say anything about transforming your character, even though it is your character that enables you to make the most of life, long-term. Character, not comfort, is God's first priority in your life.
If you get frustrated and start wondering 'why is all this happening to me', you need to remind yourself that living life to the max isn't about avoiding extreme situations, it's growth in the midst of them, and victory over them. As how does character change happen? 'As the spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him' (2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT).
His spirit lives inside you and anything is possible! So then, don't sit on your backside until you feel capable or confident. Get up and in faith do the right things in spite of your fears. We choose to do the right thing and then trust God's spirit to give us the oomph, the passion, the faith, and the brains to do it. That's how you co-operate with the Holy Spirit. That's how 2 B like JC and see true character developed in you.
