Proverbs 13:4-6 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
4The slacker craves yet has nothing,
but the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied.
5The righteous hate falsehood,
but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
6Righteousness guards the man of integrity,
but wickedness undermines the sinner.
Who are “the slackers”? They are the idlers, loafers, negligent, careless, and the indifferent (uncaring, apathetic) with regard to what is required of them by God, as to obeying His commands and to walking in His ways. They are those who are self-consumed with the pleasures of the flesh and not with submission to Christ as Lord. They are the selfish and the self-indulgent who put themselves and their desires above God and above the needs of others. And they are the wicked who speak lies and who do evil to other people.
And who are the righteous? They are those who, by God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, and in the power of God, have denied self, died to sin, and who are walking in the ways of the Lord in holiness and in righteousness, in obedience to our Lord and to His commands, in life practice. They are diligent in their service to the Lord to follow His leading in their lives in going wherever He sends them, in doing all that He commands, and in speaking His truths to the people. For they are people of God and people of integrity.
Proverbs 13:9-10,13 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
9The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10Arrogance leads only to strife,
but wisdom is with the well-advised.
13He who despises instruction will pay the penalty,
but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
What is the “light of the righteous” which “shines brightly”? It is Christ in us, the hope of glory. It is the love of Jesus living within us who are of faith in Jesus, by His grace, speaking truth to our hearts and empowering us to obey Him. And it is the Spirit within us speaking God’s truths through us to the people of the world for their salvation from slavery to sin and for eternal life with God. It is the wisdom of God coming from the Scriptures taught in their correct biblical context by the servants of the Lord, led by the Spirit of God.
And what is the lamp of the wicked? Why is it extinguished? It is darkness, not light, so it is truly no lamp at all. Or, if it is a lamp, it is a false light (truth, gospel). There is no light of truth in it. So it is deception. And those whose goal it is to deceive others with their lies are the arrogant who want for themselves the praise of other humans. So they despise the commands of God, because they want to do things their way instead of God’s way. For they want to still be the ones in control of their own lives, and not God.

14The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
turning one from the snares of death.
17A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
but a faithful envoy brings healing.
18Poverty and shame come to him who ignores discipline,
but whoever heeds correction is honored.
Who are the wicked messengers? They are those who speak lies to the people, deliberately and habitually, without conscience, in order to deceive and to turn people away from God and to follow human flesh, instead. They are the cunning and crafty who use deceitful scheming in order to teach the Scriptures out of context, and to twist them to say what they do not say if taught in the correct biblical context, in order to convince the naïve that they do not have to obey God’s commands but that they can keep on in their sin.
And what is the teaching of the wise? They teach what Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught as the gospel of our salvation, taught in the correct biblical context. They teach that we must, by faith in Jesus, which comes from God, deny self, die to sin, and follow our Lord in obedience to His commands, in the power of God, by life practice. So they turn sinners from their sins. They do not coddle them in their sins. The healing they bring is the message of deliverance from addiction to sin and obedience to God.

Holy Spirit, come within us. Cleanse our hearts, and from sin free us.
Make us holy vessels fit for service to the King.
Fill us with Your love and power. Anoint us within this hour to be living
Witnesses for Jesus Christ, our King. Our praise to Him bring.
Father God, our heart’s desire, come and speak to us in power.
Revive our hearts to obey You; live for You always.
May we love and serve You only, walking with You; not a phony.
May we always tell the truth, and show integrity. Your true servants be.
Jesus, Savior, sanctify us. Purify our hearts within us;
Be transformed into Your likeness, holy unto You.
May we always listen to You speaking Your words now within us.
May we heed Your counsel to us; follow You today. Do all that You say.
