Those who trust in the LORD [Are] like Mount Zion, [Which] cannot be moved, [but] abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever. Psalm 125:1-2 NKJV
Consider the qualities of a mountain for a moment. Mountains are unmovable. Even if an earthquake caused the ground to tremble, the mountains would remain in place. A mountain can provide safety from floods, shelter from high winds, and even security during war. In the case of Jerusalem, the towering landscape around the city offered a feeling of being nestled in a secure fortress.
Whether or not you live near mountains that offer a sense of stability and security, you can certainly imagine what it would feel like to be surrounded by mountains. This is a picture of placing your faith in the Lord, of trusting that God is a constant, fixed, immovable source of strength in your life. If you don’t trust in God right at this moment, now is the best time to confess your sins and to begin again with your faith in His mercy and unwavering support.
So many other sources of strength and support in your life will fail you, but with the power of God in your life, you have continual access to an advocate you can lean on in the unstable moments of life.
