The Road
Walking a long the road kicking stones deep in thought, in remorse
Looked up to see a Stranger in the distance coming my way
Still in awe what I had seen three days ago on a hill
The horror I had seen still fresh in my mind the crucifixion of an innocent man
The words still clear fresh as when I first heard forgive them they don't know
Then I be came confused as He said it is finished as he died
The Stranger is getting closer again I return once again to that dread full day
Remembering how they took the lifeless body who called himself Son of God
The weeping Mary holding for the last time who she gave birth
I was startled to see Mary running along the road yelling the grave is empty He’s alive
I was dumb founded as they passed the Stranger and me who I looked straight into the eyes
Walking past Him I thought to myself wondered if anybody would pass him without recognition
Stopping on a dime turned around to see the back of the Stranger walking along the road
Cried out Son of God forgive me for passing you by please remember me this moment in paradise
Stranger turned with a twinkle in His eyes with a wave of His hand as to say come with me
How many of us have been on the Road to see a Stranger in the distance we don't recognize
Never pay attention as the distance closes with some one passing by saying He’s alive
How many of us have looked into the eyes of the Son of God passing him by without knowing
