The human life is fraught with regretful events. To name a few which are more remarkable, it is harder to find employment than to lose it, harder to pick and choose a spouse than to destroy a wedlock, harder to set up an abode of peace than to remain in wandering, and harder to keep one’s head above water than to go into liquidation. Entangled in distress year in and year out, one tends to live and die a labourer. A tear-stained world would be able to tell countless tales of human misery.

At one time, God brought by his hand the Israelites out of Egypt, the house of slavery. Today, with greater pleasure and by the salvation accomplished by Christ, He brings all who believe in Him, out of the whirlpools, floods, and storms of this world, so that they will no longer be under the tyranny of such forces. “He delivered us from the domain of darkness” (Colossians 1:13) in the same manner as He delivered the Jewish nation from the power of Pharaoh.

In fact, he who lives in Christ will no longer come under the threat of the aforesaid tribulations, because God has spoken, saying, “Listen, you who have been borne by me from birth, and have been carried from the womb. Even to your old age, I shall be the same, and even to your greying years I shall bear you. I have done it, and I shall carry you, and I shall bear you, and I shall deliver you.” (Isaiah 46, 3-4) God further assures us that the word which goes forth from His mouth shall not return to Him empty. (Isaiah 55:11) These words were directed to the Jewish nation, but it is those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. (Galatians 3:7) The same blessing goes to all.

To the greatest regret of God, many Christians have reservations about His word, in the belief that salvation works by means of their own. The result will be that they are exposed to the global storm that is raging outside God’s place of refuge.
