Disciples and Apostles were never anointed with oil. In the New Testament Christians received the Spirit for their work of service. Oil was never poured upon Jesus: except by a womwn for his burial, as he said.
Before the day of Pentecost, priest's were anointed and carried the fragrance with them. But since the day of Pentecost, believers have carried the aura of Jesus. "They realised that they had been with Jesus" the real anointing had come.

Our anointing flows out of Christ's anointing, and we receive it only from him: "Of his fullness we have all received" To John the Baptist it was revealed that "Upon whom you see the Spirit decending and remaining on him, this is he who baptises with the Holy Spirit" He identified the source: Jesus Christ, the giver and the authority of the giving.

We may pray and lay hands on people to be baptised in the Spirit, as the Apostles did: but we must realise that a man cannot and need not give his anointing to someone else. It is out of the fulness of Christ, not someone else's fulness.
I want my own anointing from God, not a second hand anointing. To bestow an anointing, even as a temporary effect, is foreign to biblical thought. Jesus alone is the baptiser.
The blessings of God may flow in many ways through our lives as rivers of living water from Christ, but that is different from doing what only Jesus can do: impart the Spirit.
