The Property of God:
The Lord God does not force himself upon anyone. We all have a free will choice to chose between life, or death, blessing, or cursing. (Deu 30:19) When we make Jesus to be our Lord and savior of our lives he takes this decision that we make very seriously.
Once this happens the Lord God marks everyone who belongs to him by sealing them with the Holy Spirit. We are no longer our own. We do not belong anymore to our self's, we have become God's property.
1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and YE ARE NOT YOUR OWN?
1Co 6:20 FOR YE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE,
What happens if I get off the beaten path of where I should be, am I lost? Since I am now the
property of God what does he do? Does the Lord God sit around twiddling his thumbs waiting for me
to come back? Does not God take care of the things that belong to him?
Heb 12:6 For THE LORD DISCIPLINES THE ONE HE LOVES, AND CHASTISES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES."
Heb 12:7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
Heb 12:8 IF YOU ARE LEFT WITHOUT DISCIPLINE, IN WHICH ALL HAVE PARTICIPATED, THEN YOU ARE ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN AND NOT SONS.
Heb 12:9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
Heb 12:10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but HE DISCIPLINES US FOR OUR GOOD, THAT WE MAY SHARE HIS HOLINESS.
Thank God he is a good Father, and he never leaves us to our own devises, but he will, and he does correct, chastise, and sometimes punishes us without asking our permission to do so because we belong to him forever more.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
The Lord God is actively pursuing us even when we are not being "ideal" children. His correction is permanent, and everlasting. There are no quick fixes like putting on a band aid which will fall off after a few days. We can be assured his discipline though it might take time to complete will cause us to become partakers of his holiness.
