And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. It was time for King David to pass the kingdom to his son, Solomon. His wisdom for the incoming king is good wisdom for you. Are you ready to take a closer look? Know, understand, appreciate, obey, and cherish God. Serve Him with a heart that refuses rebellion and a mind that is ready for a God adventure. God can and will search the core of who you are, and He is fully aware of the tendency to wander. Seek God, pray to Him, learn from Him. Make that your primary goal, and you will find God.
That’s an amazing bit of advice. It encourages every part of you to enlist in a lifetime of learning, a heart of wisdom, and a spirit that recognizes the goodness of God.
Prayer: Father, help me take David’s advice and gain wisdom. Help me take that wisdom and let it change my heart. I can’t do that alone.
