There is a Jeremy Camp song I've been listening to lately. The lyrics of the chorus go like this.
The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, ...
You know it's true. We have a power within us. It isn't power, it's God's power.
The power of God. The power of the guy who created the universe. Of course we aren't God.
But He shares His power with us.
We have the power to dream dreams, and prophesy!!!
Acts 2:17; 'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
We have the power to heal the sick!! We have the power to cast out demons!!
Mark 16:17; "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
We have the power of prayer.
Jas 4:2; (b) .... You do not have because you do not ask.
We have the power to change the world!! It's why we are here.
This fatalist attitude that many have... whatever will be will be... is not in the Bible.
This thinking of "If God wills it, it will happen" is not always what He wants us to think.
Luke 18:2; saying, "In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man.
Luke 18:3; "There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Give me legal protection from my opponent.'
Luke 18:4; "For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, 'Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,
Luke 18:5; yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.'"
Luke 18:6; And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;
Luke 18:7; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?
Luke 18:8; "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
We have not because we ask not. Do you think God will not protect His elect?
Or was Jesus lying when He said this? We have become a bunch of "namby-pamby wimps"!!
We are afraid to speak the Word!! We are afraid of offending people!! No wonder Jesus asked
if He will still find faith when He returns.
We have the power of God in us!! Why aren't we using it?
John 14:12; "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
John 14:13; "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:14; "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
We can do even greater things than Jesus did!! Whatever we ask (with the right motives)
Jesus will do it!!
Jas 5:16; Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Jas 5:17; Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
Jas 5:18; Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much!!
Do we believe that? God wants to hear our petitions. He wants us to acknowledge His power.
His strength is made perfect through our weaknesses.
Elijah was a man just like us. Yet he had the power to make it rain, and make it stop.
What are you asking God for? Have you quit asking? Has God gotten weaker lately?
Or has our faith?
2 Tim 3:5; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
We are told to avoid people who deny the power of God.
Muslims have this fatalistic belief... "If Allah wills it".
There are some things in the Bible that God will cause to happen because He wills it.
He always keeps His promises and His word is true.
But something's... He expects us to pray for. Something's He expects us to do!!
Do you have the boldness of God within you? Even in the face of opposition?
1 Thes 2:2; but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition.
Or do you have a spirit of fear?
Acts 1:8; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
We will receive power... power to be His witness. His testimony. Even unto the remotest
parts of the earth!!
