The Power of Quiet

Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

Men are natural doers, workers, initiators. Achievement means a lot to men. Work is part of a man's identity. And when work is done, there's more! Sports, hobbies, family events, church, community involvement--so many opportunities to be doing something.

Consequently, most men are too busy to be still or quiet for very long. It takes effort, but when God commands it, there's a reason. And what better reason than knowing your Father in heaven better? Men are so busy working out solutions to problems, creating the next thing, or meeting obligations, that they forget God is the Lord of all creation.

Though most people don't constantly have God on their minds and hearts, He will be exalted one day above all other concerns. He will exert Himself for His own glory globally. But you can enjoy the power of His presence now when you embrace the power of quiet. All you need to do is refrain from busyness to know Him.

God promises it will be worth the effort. He says, "I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name" (Isaiah 45:3).

Prayer: Father, You are the reward of my quiet moments, my treasure above all else.

Amen to that brother!
It's as if we need stimulus, even if not physical, at least mental exercises to entertain us.
So, if we're not actually hearing Him talk to us, or feeling His presence. We're wondering
this or that!

What goes on in the mind of others, only God really knows.
I can only speak for myself brother.

Greetings Brother,

Forgive me please. I was being silly. My bad.

Being still is not my best practice when it comes to quietening my mind. It seems that i am always too busy yapping away at or to the Lord and yet He does get through to me, which proves that miracles do still happen! (i say that respectfully as I know that the amount i yapper i honestly hardly am still enough for the Lord to get a word in, BUT, who am i that can prevent His Word going forth and acomplishing that which is His will do do?)

I know one thing in relation to this, though....

Berean Study Bible
I cry out to God Most High, to God Who fulfills His purpose for me.

New American Standard Bible
I will cry to God Most High, To God Who accomplishes all things for me.

King James Bible
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
Psalm 57:2

O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: because His mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 118:1

Bless you ....><>

"I have discovered that all human evil comes from this--man's inability to sit still in a room (Blaise Pascal)."

Something that I have recently learned and am disciplining myself in is.

Something that works real good with The Father in Prayer is......Finding out what He Wants to talk about and deal with that FIRST and He then will start talking to you about the things you wanted to bring up.

Sounds easy but man oh man sometimes He REQUIRES you to just be quiet and still for what seems like eternity before He starts.

Love and Blessings in Christ
