Well.. to the one's who are intersted, Aramit was the main language was used by the Jew's in Israel at the time of Jesus. Hebrew used less and was used for speeches and prayers... something might be like latin or ancient greek in some churches. Aramit is not really used today and not many know to speak this ancient language. Some Rebbi's still use it and i heard it is used in some Arabic Churches. Anyway i saw on the net were i usually read the New testment that there is new version under construction of the NT in Aramit. so to the one's who want to use a diffrent style/language of prayer to prayer. (God ofcourse understands it all).. so this is the prayer (as it's sounds, phoneticly).Avun the-vashmaya. nitkAdAsh sh'mak.
te'te malkhutah. ni'a-ve zevanyah. aikana the-vashmaya af bara'a.
av lan lahma the-soonkAnAn yamana. vshvok lan havbain. aikana daf hnan shvakin lhayavain. vla ta'alan knisyona. ela fazan min bisha. mitol d'dilah hi malkuta v'haila v'tishbohta lalam almin. amen.

Hi there,
Is Aramit what most of us would recognize as Aramaic. I once heard this was the language the Jews adopted during the Babylonian captivity. And certain books of the Bible such as Ezra, Nehemiah, Ester, Daniel were written in this language as apposed to Hebrew. Is that right? The Lord's prayer did seem strange to me, I've heard modern Hebrew and Arabic and what you wrote didn't sound like either one of them.

Blessings,
Tony

I'm pretty sure that j4jh means aramaic Tonyb, I have never heard of language called "aramit" before and couldn't find it in my dictionary or cyclopedia either. It must be a typing error.

Hey, I'm gonna put my two cents in here, lol---j4jh's first language is Hebrew. That's what his parents, friends, family, and neighbors speak.
English is only his second language. He is a christian among many people who do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God and Messiah. He rocks!

That's very interesting that they are putting together an Aramaic version of the NT. I think that will turn some devoted Christians' heads towards this kind of Bible reading and studying. I for one, cannot be one of those - not yet lol.

Uh, wow. That is all I can say :)
Congrats on becoming a Christian in a hard situation, certainly you are in a tough situation, and I will pray for you.

I have to say how cool it would be to understand the original language of the old testament!

Yes its Aramic i am sorry but some words and names of stuff or people i dont know how to spell or say in english.. so basicly its aramic yeah. i dun sure when it was really created or adopted but i know that it was used as main language or lets say the people language in the time of jesus.
Aramic is sometimes sounds like few words in hebrew but not that much but for someone is regular to speak on of the languages (hebrew nor arabic) it would sound a lil bit familiar..
the Aramic version is also including by its side's translation to hebrew so it would be easier to one's who dont really understand to know where they are and also might be to study this language?
and about understanding the original text of the old tesment.. well its sometimes kinda hard because its very old language and terms and modern hebrew is similar but still hard to understand some stuff or who(m) speak to who and the years.. but i cant totally feel what you feel about understanding the original text cuz i take it for granted (because most of people start to study bible in the age of 6-7). anyway if someone knows hebrew letters and want the link i can link it to him... and again sorry for the bad spell of the word :).
