KJV Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
New International Version Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
GOD'S WORD® Translation Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it.
NET Bible Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life.
Notice, one translation says, everything you do flows from it and Jesus shows that same point in Mark 7:14-23: 14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. That shows us that every person whether they realize it or not lives from the inside-out. And a lot of times we try to solve issues/problems from the outside and the issues are on the inside. You take a dirty person and their house is filthy. Take them and put them in a brand new clean house and leave and come back in about a month and that new house will look just the first house. Because, the problem was not the house, it was the person in the house. The problem was never outside, it was inside. As long as they have the same heart they will keep getting the same results. Sometimes people have the same issue over and over and that's because something needs to change inside first. And people try to change the outside, but still have the same inside. You go from marriage to marriage thinking changing partners is the issue and the same issues keep coming up, check yourself. Fix you inside first then you can stop having the issues outside, now you're more fit. But, as long as you have the same issues inside you will have the same issues outside.
If you don't change your programming your responses are automatic, just like if you set your alarm clock for work Mon-Fri for 6am what's going to happen Saturday and Sunday. Because, it's programmed to, you can't expect it not to alarm just because you don't have to get up at the same time, as long as it's set it's going to alarm. If you don't change you inside, and you might want to change, you'll have the same issues outside. Often people that win the lottery in a few years go into debt. People that win millions and end up in debt. There's an old Proverb(not scripture) A fool and his money are soon parted. Where is he a fool, inside and where is his money, outside. You live from the inside-out, your inside life has effects on your outside life. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. That word hope means to expect. Understand, you see inside what you expect outside in your life. You see what's in you just like The Bible says you speak what's in you. Matthew 12:34 says, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." So, there are indications of what is in you. Faith and fear works with an image. In Genesis 6:5 it says, And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Notice, an image comes from your thoughts and your thoughts come from your heart. So, what you expect forms an image and either faith or fear will work with that image. Faith works with what you expect that you do want and fear works with what you expect that you do not want. Faith and fear are the same thing, but they are just opposites. Like north and south they are the same thing, directions, but they are just opposites. Anytime you are in fear that's an indication that you are on the wrong side. Something came into your heart that caused that fear, some word, some thought, something. Now, if you dwell on it then it will increase/grow. 2 Corinthians 10:4,5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. So, at the root of every stronghold is a thought which comes from your heart. But, Jesus said in Matthew 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. In other words whatever is planted in you that shouldn't be the word can root it out. You don't fight thoughts with thought you fight thoughts with words. Somebody might say, "I'll just think something different, no, speak something.
Romans 10:17 says, Faith comes by hearing not by thinking. Now, you can start moving from fear to faith, but it has to be an act of your will. Hebrews 4:2 says, For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. In Numbers 13 & 14 when the 12 spies came back from spying out the Promised Land 10 of the them came back with an evil report that they could not take the land because of the people they were giants, but Joshua and Caleb tried to convince the people that they could take it. But they were not willing to give up their thought that they could not. In fact they were willing to kill them over it. Numbers 14:10 Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. They were willing to kill them to stay in bondage. And you still have people like that today they will fight you to stay in bondage. You try to tell them something and they'll argue with you all night and talk about you like a dog even though you right. Joshua and Caleb were right in what they said. Back in Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. In the Strong's Concordance it says that word issues is translated boundaries or borders. Notice, their boundaries were not outside they were inside. And if you try to move someone beyond that boundary most likely they will fight you.
2 Corinthians 5:10 New Living Translation For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. New American Standard Bible For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive compensation for his deeds done through the body, in accordance with what he has done, whether good or bad. That goes with Proverbs 4:23 NIV everything you do flows from your heart, so everything you have, physical there is a spiritual component. Your car, dress, cell phone, everything you have flowed from someone's heart. So, you can't see physically what's not first done spiritually. So, the physical material realm is only a manifestation of the spiritual. Things are first spiritual before they are physical. That's why you can't wait until you see something to believe God has done something, and you believe with your heart (Roman 10:10) . Something can be done in the spiritual before you see it physically. God told Abraham that He had made him a father of many nations, while his body was dead and his wife's womb was dead. And they had to have faith in something that their senses had no way of detecting. That's why 2 Corinthians 4:17,18 says, For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. That's an understanding that there is more than just this physical material realm. And the things that are spiritual are just as real as the things that are physical.
In John 8:31,32 Jesus said, Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Notice, you shall know the truth and a lot of times people are deceived about what the truth is. Because, the average person thinks that the truth is whatever is currently manifested. But, just because something is in manifestation does make it truth. In John 17:17 Jesus said, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. So, Jesus was saying whatever God says about a matter is the truth whether it's in manifestation or not it's still the truth. That's why Romans 3:3,4 says, For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? 4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. God was man's original source of knowledge and he fell to getting his knowledge from his senses. In Genesis 3:7 after they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil it says, The eyes of them both were opened, and they knew they were naked.
That word eyes means fountain which means a source. So, their source of knowledge changed, for the first time they got there knowledge from flesh and not God. And anytime God is not your source of knowledge you are open to deception. Because, God is called The Spirit Of Truth, so any knowledge apart from him might be fact, but not truth. And one of the biggest deceptions is accepting facts as truth. Facts are what you perceive by your senses and as long as you believe the facts then you separate yourself from God's provisions. Romans 8:5-8 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. A carnal mind is against God because he only believes what his flesh tells him, he can not accept anything outside of his senses. We know 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight), so they must be opposites. And what you believe is important because the heart of man is the gateway between the spiritual and physical realm.
Jesus teaches that in the parable of the sower, Jesus shows something in this parable that's very important. Jesus did a lot of teaching about the heart of man. In verse 3 of Mark chapter 4 Jesus said, Hearken; Behold there went out a sower to sow. (Keep in mind, things work from the inside-out). (The order of life is things work from the inside-out.) Now, watch how many times Jesus makes that same point. In Mark 4:20 Jesus teaches that the words you allow in your heart will bear fruit. It says in Mark 4:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. So, Jesus is teaching that words are seeds for in verse 14 of that same chapter he said, The sower soweth the word. And verse 15 shows that the seed is sown in the heart of man and back in verse 20 you clearly see that Jesus refers to the heart of man as ground. So, if words are seeds then they produce fruit, fruit represents a corresponding manifestation. Because, just like in the natural every seed produces after it's kind. Notice, in verse 20 it says, And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it(where, inside), and bring forth fruit(where, outside in your life).
And in verse 22 Jesus makes the same point, For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested. That word hid means inward(that's your heart) and the word manifested means visible/clearly seen(that's in your life). So, the words you hide in your heart there will be something seen/manifested in your life. And then it says, Neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. That word secret means hid/that word come means appear, grow/and the word abroad means externally, outward. He's making the same point the word that's secret/hid(that's in your heart) something will come(appear) abroad(externally, that's in your life). So, the words you put inside there will be a manifestation outside in your life. Then he says in verses 26-28 And he said, So is the kingdom of God(and we know the word says the kingdom of God is in us Luke 17:21), as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. Now, he's showing us flat out, because we know if you put a seed in the ground something is going to come out in manifestation. If you put a rose seed in the ground at some point you will see an actual rose.
And he still doesn't stop there in verses 30-32 Jesus said, 3o And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. Notice, when the word is sown(that's in the heart) it will becometh(that's outside in your life). Jesus made the same point 5 times (the number of grace), do you think he trying to get us to see something. Do you think it's important. Your life is being run by this principle whether you believe it or not, whether you understand it or not. Why do you think God says, Guard your heart with all diligence. That's not a cute suggestion. You will either win in life or loose in life based on that principle right there. Because, your life is being lived from the inside-out. If you hold a seed in your hand, will it produce anything, no. But, if you take it and put it in the ground now it will produce. What's the point, a seed not planted will never produce fruit. Having a Bible in every room of the house will not produce fruit, just knowing or memorizing what the word says doesn't produce fruit, it's just in your head.
The word has to go from your head to your heart before it will produce fruit. And people think that because they know what the word says that it's in their heart, no it's in your head and then when it doesn't produce fruit they get frustrated and give up. The way you get the word from your head to your heart is to meditate it. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Deu. 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. So, the word in your mouth will get in your heart. Notice, the word inside will cause things to happen outside. Because, meditation will cause a manifestation. Psalm 1:1-3 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. When you see bring forth fruit it's talking about a manifestation, so again, we have the word going inside causing a manifestation outside. Because, things work from the inside-out.
That also works for your healing, your healing can come from the inside-out. Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Why do you think God said keep the word in your heart, for a manifestation to come out. In Mark chapter 5:25-34 the woman with the issue of blood: 25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
In verse 28 it says, For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole, and in the amplified version it says for she kept saying. Which means seed was being sown. And what did Jesus tell her, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Notice, the words she put inside manifested outside, her faith(what she had inside) made her whole(outside in her body). How did she know to touch the border of his garment, because Malachi 4:2 says,But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings. And you see in the very next chapter Mark 6:56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. How do you think they knew to touch the border of his garment, they heard about the woman with the issue of blood so seed was sowed. And you see in Acts 14:7-10 And there they preached the gospel. 8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. Notice, words went in and a manifestation came out. Even God Himself had to follow that order, He was the word made flesh, he came from the inside-out. Because, there's an order to life and that is things work from the inside-out.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
