The Offender becoming Offended

The Offender becoming Offended

Sometimes we might offend a brother or sister in the Lord, and sometimes because they became offended, we our self's become offended over them becoming offended!!

Jesus once said.....

Mat 18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; BUT WOE TO THAT MAN BY WHOM THE OFFENCE COMETH!

It is interesting that the Greek word used for “OFFENCES” means, “The trigger of a trap on which bait is placed. a trap hidden in an ambush and not the results of the trap”

Sometimes we might unknowingly offend a brother, and in return we become offended because they became offended. It becomes a vicious circle feeding into each other in which offences continue until both parties identify the “trigger” or the “device” in which the devil is using to cause divisions in the body. What we say or do is either under the influence of God or the devil, either light or darkness.

If we are truly walking in the light as he is in the light we should never be offended by what anyone says or does. Love takes no offense and endures all things, and never fails!!

1Co 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, ENDURES ALL THINGS.

Offences are simply the “trigger”, and NOT the end results. The end results of offenses (trigger) is unforgiveness!!!

Many times we offend our own self's without anyone's help, and we become the man Jesus warned us about who would cause offences!!!

“...BUT WOE TO THAT MAN BY WHOM THE OFFENCE COMETH! ...”

Jesus said in the next few verses....

Mat 18:8 Wherefore IF THY HAND OR THY FOOT OFFEND THEE, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
Mat 18:9 And IF THINE EYE OFFEND THEE, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

Who offended you? I offended myself!! Forgiving our self's is a must!! We would not typically think that we could even possibly offend our self's.

Obviously, we don't cut off our feet, or pluck out our eyes, at least I have never herd of anyone doing that. These things must be dealt with by the power of the Holy Spirit who helps us mortify (put to death) the deeds of our body so we don't cause offense to others, or even to our self's.

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but IF YE THROUGH THE SPIRIT DO MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE BODY, YE SHALL LIVE.

Col 3:5 MORTIFY THEREFORE YOUR MEMBERS WHICH ARE UPON THE EARTH; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Walking in the Spirit, which is only done by the Holy Spirit, we will walk in love (because God is love) that never takes, or gives an occasion to offend.
