To be numbered among the twelve, they had to have been with Jesus from the beginning ********* [Acts 1:22 KJV] "Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection." ******** Paul was not with Jesus from the beginning. Paul is a witness to Christ's resurrection however, because he saw the risen Lord Jesus. Paul could be, and is, apostle to the Gentiles.
