He says in his heart, "God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it." Psalm 10:11 ESV
Imagine what kind of internal conversation can lead someone to today’s verse. He had concluded that God is forgetful, that He chooses to be blissfully ignorant, and that He does not want to pay attention to him. God’s Word calls this kind of thinking wicked.
The struggles you face can lead you to a dark place, giving you a room where you can allow your pain to become a burden to you and a barrier to the relief you need. Your mind can turn the problem over and over again until you have entertained every real offense and hurt and then welcome things you can only assume or imagine to be true without proof. Each moment in this place peddles the idea that you’re a victim, you can’t overcome, and everyone wants to hurt you. This dark place is a complex layer of lies, half-truths, and deception. Leave this room now.
God offers a better way to think and a greater way to think and a greater future to consider. He’s the author of overcoming stories, the mapmaker for miracles, and the God who brings freedom to the fallen.
Prayer: God, because people hurt me, it is easy sometimes to think You will hurt me too. Help me to remember this is not who You are and that You would rather have me run to You than to desperately seek dark thinking.
