God want's an eternal life spent with you.
He had it with Adam and Eve, an eternal existence with His creation, man.
I suppose, if they hadn't disobeyed God's one rule and eaten the forbidden fruit, we would all still be there with them in perfection, the Garden of Eden. But, perhaps not; after all he did give us choice and we do have an ego.

Since that historical event, God has, in His infinite wisdom and power, continually made covenants(contracts/promises) with man to get them back to their original state of perfection that Adam lost for us due to His sin.

But look at what St. Paul says in 1 COR 13: 9-12: 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

How is it possible, that we can look at God face to face? Look at the above verse again: We, because of Jesus Christ perfect life in us; because of His righteousness, when we die, God will take our imperfection and makes us perfect and we will spend all of eternty in His presence.... now that is heaven!
How is this possible?
  • Jesus Christ's physical death on the cross abolishes our sin and forgives.
  • By receiving Jesus Christ's, now his resurrected and spiritual life in us saves and provides eternal life.
For each one us, this is the promise made out in God's covenant of Grace. This is the end product of His divine plan to make us perfect and allow us to to "walk in the garden" with Him once again.
Thank God that his son's finished work on the cross forgives and receiving his resurrected life in us saves, all by the free gift of Grace by God.
