THE MAP BOOK

Once there was a man
Who had a map book in his hand
Because of pride and arrogance
He would not even take a glance

His life took him down many a road
Through lands of warmth and some of cold
Wrong turns here and lost while there
He tried so hard but could not fare

Then one day a good friend said
"Why don't you try the book instead?"
He sheepishly opened it and stared
Oh my God, He really cared

Jesus now is his guide and friend
A true love and friendship without end
Though he still climbs a hill or valley
He won't get caught in a back alley

The man led his family by the book
They lived like a tree next to the brook
Healthy and fruitful and full of life
What a change from all that strife

When he passed on and was dead
What a great man they all said
He's now in heaven without a doubt
Please join the team and don't miss out

God's Special Show

GOD'S SPECIAL SHOW

Sunset tonight was wonderful
All the colors, starting with blue
The clouds were white, pale and orange
Making the ocean appear so foriegn

They faded pink as the sun hit the sea
God's special show for you and for me
The sky went magenta then dark and black
Revealing the stars hiding in back

Out came the moon now for it's turn
There are sparkles all over instead of the burn
Help me remember to give You the raves
Either swimming or floating or surfing Your waves

You show You exist in so many ways
I'll glorify You all of my days
Thank You for life and the beauty of earth
Help me to know what in Your eyes I'm worth

Just Trusting In God Is The Cure

JUST TRUSTING IN GOD IS THE CURE

People fight against growth and change
But holding selves down is so strange
Must take our thoughts and rearrange
Saddle that horse and ride the range

Men act so proud and stay the same
Hiding behind fear and our shame
While finding someone else to blame
Violence or boredom is our fame

Then women on the other hand
Just want to control all the land
Seeking security that's bland
Forgetting about what God planned

The truth is life's an adventure
Not easy and sometimes unsure
While satan's follies due allure
Just trusting in God is the cure

We All Seem Rather Small

WE ALL SEEM RATHER SMALL

We all seem rather small
in the scheme of things
Obviously going nowhere
just back and forth on swings

I believe that conformism
makes for lost and empty lives
Using untruthful happy faces
to hide the misery in our eyes

One key could be contentment
another may be striving
For anyone to feel of purpose
we join a Church that's thriving

The Devil Thought...

I'm really enjoying writing Christ themed poetry

THE DEVIL THOUGHT...

The devil thought he had You beat
When he saw You walk that street
It's You that hung upon a cross
While we're the ones truly dross

Knowing You did that to save us
We all love You Lord Jesus
Please help me teaching those not yet
That on Your life they can bet

I'll remember when I doubted
So to care for the outed
Drinker, pusher or prostitute
That You are our substitute

Take my faith now over the edge
Trusting in Your leverage
Making sure all glory is Yours
Showing me the open doors

Keep me praying and close to You
It's then I'll know what to do
You're The Way, The Truth, and The Life
And have conquered all the strife

...IN A GODLY FASHION

Making love in a Godly fashion
Living with whole-hearted passion
Treating your mate much better than self
To have the softness of an elf

This is an obtainable target
Just can't buy it at the market
Continue to woo after marriage
Share time pushing baby's carriage

There's so many things that stress us out
Still find happiness do not pout
Always set aside some time to date
In happy couple's it's a trait

When you spend an evening fine dining
Hardly any talk of whining
Then you can maybe go to a dance
Or if you can then go to France

Jesus gave the art of lovemaking
True it's not always earthshaking
We need to work at the fact it's fun
Then we'll be joined from two to one

Thank you Buddy2. I read the poems you posted since my last reading this thread, and was thinking how unique and lifelike is your poetry; like crystals, clear with facets that show different colors as they turn in the light.

As I read YOU'LL REACH GOD'S PORT, I thought how cool, it feels like you are answering my poem. And I wondered about that. Then I read the poem again, and saw I had missed the dedication: that you did embark your ship from mine!! Apologies for waiting so long to give you gratitude! Thank you so much. I'm praising God for you. You have given me a timeless gift, a blessing from Jesus that I'm noticing just when I need it most.

God laid it on my heart awhile ago, but I've been soo scared to try. Thank You Jesus for "To Christ's" response. I have over 150 Christian themed poems now and will start working on getting them published. The book's title?
Of God, Life, And...

Here's another...

...At The Altar

What you've left at the altar
Don't you dare pick up again
Satan wants you to falter
But you really can abstain

We will be given trials
And of course will be tempted
We can climb all the piles
And sin can be pre-empted

It's through Jesus that we win
Over the world and our flesh
Turn our hearts away from sin
And our lives become afresh

I've seen it with my own eyes
The healing power in God's Grace
Those knowing looks and sighs
Just have Faith and seek His face

When it comes to sin and me
I sure had such a struggle
I couldn't stop don't you see
Till Jesus joined the huddle

My Bestest, Dearest, and Closest friend just passed away. Here's a poem...

James M. Memorial Poem

Have known this man for twenty-eight years
He truly is my Best Buddy
James has helped me get past my fears
And to even find life funny

School, working and playing together
We've shared all this and more as friends
Topics ranged from ants to the weather
Of God or silly fashion trends

My friend James had never let me down
And he always came through for me
When I needed to get out of town
He'd say "Go sit under that tree."

Though I'll miss him, I'm really not sad
Because he's in That better place
Only selfishness would make me mad
So I'll just remember his face

And I'll catch up with you someday!

Can You see how hard I'm trying
Why is life so difficult
Did You say Christ did the dying
Do You feel it's all my fault

I'm giving my life for my wife
Why is it never enough
Giving wholley to You my life
Would it then not be so tough

Read the story of our man Job
And look at what he went through
Tell me now did he earn a robe
Or just float off in the blue

Have to admit I'm questioning
All the things I've been told
My faith needs a new fashioning
But I miss that Love of old

Thank You God for bringing me through
That wilderness and desert experience
Everything feels so fresh and new
And I think I've got more sense

While I am now living with one

I have tried my best to be a good husband
Though of course have failed here and there

Claiming to be a follower of Christ
But definitely not acting like one

There's things that happen beyond our control
While others are a deliberate act

FORGIVENESS COMES...

Forgiveness comes
By loving God more than self
Caring for loved ones
Putting hate on the shelf

It's a choice we make
and one that's not earned
God forgave me
Now for my turn

The freedom I feel
and happiness of heart
By forgiving my wife
Just doing my part

We're lovers again
Like those years ago
I thank God for the lesson
and the tears that did flow
