Thy kingdom come--- Luke 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

Thy will be done in earth--- Hebrews 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God.

as it is in heaven--- Luke 11:2 Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

give us this day our daily bread--- Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

And forgive us our debts--- Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

as we forgive our debtors--- Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Fatherforgive your trespasses.

lead us not into temptation--- James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

but deliver us from evil--- 2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

For thine is the kingdom--- Luke 22:30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

and the power, and the glory--- 1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
Forever--- Exodus 15:18 The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. (ever= greek aiōn = an unbroken age, perpetuity of time, eternity
Amen (so it is, so be it, may it be fulfilled)

This being so. The Lords Prayer would be a series of statements of faith. Not requests.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

You give us this day our daily bread.

And you forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

You lead us not into temptation, but you deliver us from evil:

I found you comments interesting and I just wanted to share with you some of my thoughts on the Lords pray.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. This seams to me to be saying we are to praise God's personal Name, (Hallowed be thy Name) so that would be Jehovah, as that is the name Jesus would have used when he was praying to his heavenly father on earth. So should we all not follow Jesus' example and praise the name of Jehovah?

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. This is interesting, Jehovah's kingdom, the one prophesied in Daniel 2:44, is a heavenly government that will rule over the earth, and that is how Jehovah's WILL will be done on earth as in heaven, restoring Jehovah's rulership over the earth, the way it was before mankind's fall in to sin.

You give us this day our daily bread. In this modern busy world we live, it is so easy to forget and be distracted from remembering, that everything we have is a generous gift from Jehovah, it is so important to remember to thank him.

And you forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. It is so easy to forget just how much Jehovah freely forgive us of our sins, even when some one upsets us with trivial matters. As we pray this, its good to remember just how important it is to be forgiving to others.

You lead us not into temptation, but you deliver us from evil. The ball seams to be more on our side than on Jehovah's side regarding this matter, as we have free will God will not make us do anything. We have to put forth the effort with God's help, that means developing self control and self denial. That also means we have to choose not to desire wicked things that are the works of the flesh.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. As regards this comment, it does not exist in the earliest manuscripts, it was put in the bible later on, so I personally pay no attention to this statement.

You're right Davey. It is interesting, but notice! It says 'You deliver us from evil'...That means HE delivers us from evil. All that is in our court now? Obedience to His Word. Whatcha think? There was a fellow a few years back name of Mike Warnke. He was a comedian/evangelist(seems to have had a short lived career) Anyway he always said a good thing. He said 'Never mind all the things you can't do as a Christian. If you'll do the do's you won't have time do the don'ts." Just concentrate on finding out what the Word says and do it.

In answer to your comment, about how the Lord's Prayer seams to say, "HE"--God delivers us from evil. So just how much is in our court? I think God does deliver us, by His Word and by help from His holy spirit. But, remember, God has given us free-will, God will not make us be obedient to His Word, we have to choose to do that, as a demonstration of our Faith. So even though God does give us help and His Word the bible, We have to choose to put it in to action. There is clearly sage advice in that comics words: "Never mind all the things you can't do as a Christian. If you'll do the do's you won't have time do the don'ts."
