Proverbs 17:17 says A friend loves at all times.This is a true story,which happened a few days ago. A small boy lived near a farm,he wanted a puppy,the owner of the farm just so happened to have a litter from his female dog,which had 8 puppies.
The farmer posted a giant sign outside his farm saying puppies for sale,as the little 10 year old boy was walking by he saw the sign.His parents had given him permission to buy one of the puppies if he so could afford one.
As the little boy entered the farmers gate,the farmer was working and saw the little boy,and came to meet him.The little boy said "I wish to buy a puppie please".The farmer asked how much the little boy had,the little boy looked in his pocket and pulled out 39 cents. He placed his hand open to show the farmer,and asked is this enough? The farmer chuckled and said why young man, that is excatly the price I am asking for from you.
The boy being so very happy, waited as the farmer went into the barn,he opened the door and 7 puppies came fumbling out tails wagging,as they gathered around the small boy,the farmer said you may pick any of the puppies you wish.
As the little boy was deciding out from the barn came this puppy which had to very bad hind legs,the puppy stumbled about looking to make his way with the rest,but with only 2 good legs,the puppy was haveing a lot of trouble.
The little boy told the farmer ,"that is the puppy I want!" The farmer said " little man, this puppy is deformed,its 2 hind legs that do not work well,and you have 7 puppies around you to choose from."The little boy pulled up his trousers to show the farmer that he had 2 braces around his legs as well, and said,
"Mr. farmer as you can see my two legs have problems with them to,and this puppy more then the others, needs someone to love it,someone who will be a friend to it,and care for it always, even as my mom and dad care for me".
With tears in the farmers eyes, he gave that puppy to the small boy,and helped the boy and puppy back to the little boys house.
Love is action,it shows, rather the speaks,it revels rather then covers up,it bring hope,joy,and comfort to those who give this from themselves.Its cost is nothing,its worth is greater then all the money in the world,because my brothers and sisters love lasts forever!!
It cannot die,it cannot fade away,love does what its words is intended to do!! Words are like this to,a kind word to someone hurting.
The other day I was at a C.V.S.store, there was quite a line,people were upset, and the girl at the counter was having all sorts of problems,the recipt type ran out,people were charged to much for an idem,she was being rude,as people were being rude to her. This was not right for her to be this way to the customers,finally I arrived at the counter,I said I am sorry you are having such a bad day, with the people and the machine.
She looked up with tears in her eyes to say that she had just heard that her mother was in a terrible car accident, and was in the hospital.I asked if I might pray with her for her mother,and so right in the store we did just that!
She wiped the tears from her eyes and said thank you so much for caring.
We do not know how tough another has it,until we place ourselves in there shoes. Because somone may be being rude or mean to you,we do not have to return this back.We can have compassion,we can look deeper then what we see in another.
For as you all well know, that which we see and hear, from others,can mean this person is just having a bad day,it is no reflection on us,unless we make it that way. Indeed a friend loves at all times.Be a friend to someone hurting today,let that love which Jesus has in you shine towards the darkness in another.
You may through your kindness save a life,and bring that which was lost, found in Jesus! Indeed a gentle answer turns away wrath!( proverbs 15:1) LOVE is not just for you,it is a part of you! And so because LOVE is Jesus in you,let him shine forth,and put your flesh to sleep. My this you consider each and everyday.amen.
