Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, Psalm 95:7-8 ESV
Every day, every hour, every minute, the God of all is extending an invitation to new life. Men may say they never received the invitation, deny the invitation is real, or refuse the invitation. Despite their rejection, God’s invitation stands.
Second Corinthians 6:2 (NLT) says, “The ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation.” Because it’s the right time, because salvation is available in this moment, take a moment to review today’s verse. Again, it says, “If you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
If you thought God would call to you in a bold way, that His voice was like the sound of thunder, or that you could demand that God provide a sign, you should remember that God’s voice is described as a whisper (1 Kings 19:12).
You may not always understand what God is saying. Lean in, get quiet, and focus. Once you hear His message make obedience your first response.
To harden your heart is to resist God’ will and insist you know more than God. This is a bit like an army private arguing with a five-star general. You don’t know as much as you think. God knows more than you give Him credit for.
Prayer: Dear God, I don’t need to argue with You, resist Your instructions, or assume I’m wiser than You. Help me refuse arrogance and accept Your invitation to new life.
