Isa 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

In the old testament, most of the time, there was n intercessor between man and God. Of course we have one now, but what does this mean?
What does he "intercede" for us?

An advocate is slightly different than an intercessor in that they also will make an argument to support your case. We also have an advocate now.
What exactly is He advocating for us?

Jesus intercedes on our behalf as our High Priest -He is our direct link to the Father. We must go through Jesus to reach the Father. Jesus is our sacrificial lamb.

As our advocate Jesus understands the pain and weaknesses we experience having become a human being Himself and can relate to the frail and thin line between temptation and obedience. He works for the benefit of our salvation with the support and comfort of the Holy Spirit within us when we call upon His name.

Could you be a little more specific? What kind of weakness?

I agree, but when you say "high-priest", what is the role of the high-priest here?

Our carnal mind is enmity against God, by nature

Romans 7 sums it up - Jesus in Mark 7 details the vileness or weaknesses we are capable of.Weakness is our inability to resist sinning.

Jesus became our permanent High priest that fulfilled the spiritual aspects of the old covenant versus the physical and symbolic rituals and sacrifices of the temporary temple based priesthood. We now have direct access to the throne of God through our savior.
