Behold, I was brought forth in [a state of] iniquity; my mother was sinful who conceived me [and I too am sinful]. Psalm 51:5 AMPC
Have you ever tried to dig half a hole? It can’t be done. As soon as you start digging, you have a whole hole, no matter how it’s shaped. By its nature, there is no such thing as half a hole.
There’s also no such thing as kinda sinful. As soon as you sin, you are sinful. And since everyone is born a sinner, no one stands a chance at being righteous. Ecclesiastes 7:20 (AMPC) says, “Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth who does good and never sins”
Fortunately, God knew humans couldn’t climb out of the hole of sin by themselves, so He filled in the hole with His own righteousness.
Romans 3:22-23 (AMPC) says, “Namely, the righteousness of God which comes by believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [and it is meant] for all who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.”
There’s no digging your own way out of sin. You need God’s help to fill in the hole. He’s willing to give you the righteousness you lack so that you can live sin-free in His grace.
Prayer: Lord, keep me from trying to fix my own sin problems.
