The Good Samaritan
The Good Samaritan, found in Luke 10, is one of the most well known parables of Jesus. Everyone knows what a Good Samaritan is, right? Yeah, but do we even know why Jesus told this parable in the first place? I think it's kinda important, since He was replying to a question about how to inherit eternal life! "Love God and then love your neighbor," was Jesus reply. He then went on to share the ever-famous Good Samaritan Parable. He did this to clarify just what loving your neighbor should look like.

James echoes the words of Jesus in the second chapter of his epistle. "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?" Remember, James was most likely the brother of Jesus. Yeah, so this all makes sense now. Jesus and His brother, James, are like a one-two punch concerning true Christian Love. Words are good, but they only go so far. Unless your actions back up your words, then you really don't have much to say.

In Jesus' parable, it wasn't the two religious leaders who stopped and helped the guy who'd been beaten and robbed. Instead, an outcast from Samaria had pity on the stranger and stopped to help, even spending his own time and money on the guy. "This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." (1Jn 4:10) God loves us all
