"On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; Amos 9:11 NKJV
Today’s scripture uses three related words: repair, restore, rebuild. In this Old Testament setting, God was pointing to an even more powerful and unshakable future. God was going to bring redemption and rebirth to those who responded to Him.
God will prove to you over and over again that He is completely unshakable. Pay attention long enough and you can say, “God has never let me down.” And that knowledge can move you from shakable to unshaken.
When you want to be unflinching, trust will be important. Trust God, and your own opinions will not waver as much as they used to. Why? Because the God who repairs, restores, rebuilds, redeems, and instigates rebirth changes those who respond.
God can make something new from an old life. He takes what’s broken and, like a master potter, makes the unusable useful. This is good news that strengthens weak hearts, expands limited thinking, and renews a right spirit in those who trust Him.
Prayer: God, sometimes I just need to be reminded that You have done so much for me. I don’t restore myself—You do. I don’t redeem my life—You do, I don’t build a future—You do. You are beyond Awesome!
