Josh. 1:2 - 'Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this
Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to
them, even to the children of Israel.'

Religion is man's way of getting to God. What happens is that God will*move a certain way, and then people will expect God to keep moving that*way. That's where idolatry comes in the picture. The Egyptians were*much like religious folks in the sense that they try to find God in*things and methods instead of following his instructions. They worshipped the sun,*moon, objects, statues, and all kinds of other things. But what's even*worse than making things a God is making a method God! When you try to*box God into your perception, you close all access to him for others.*This is why religion is so dangerous. We expect God to move in our*midst the same way every time we open the doors of the church, or we*expect God to follow our program that is printed in the bulletins. God*does what he wants and moves like he wants to move. Whenever you base*your service strictly on the bulletin, then you basically tell God,*"Okay, here is how we want you to do it!"
*
Take the limits off God and allow him to do what he wants, when he*wants. Many people are not being used by God because they can't see*past the way he used them the first time. Even when Moses tried to get*water the same way he got it before, God punished him and would not let*him go into the land of promise. The reason was because God did not*want "customs" boxing him in and stopping his hand. He knew that Moses*would allow the people to practice their old customs and traditions*that were taught to them by pagans, so he killed all of them off in the*wilderness and took their children in. Moses' way had to die and*Joshua had to take over because Joshua was not a people pleaser, but a*God pleaser. Moses put up with the people's traditions and allowed*them to sin, practice idolatry, and complain. But Joshua got the sin*out of the camp and made the people clean up their lives, destroy their*idols, and change their way of thinking. While Moses pleaded to God*for him to change, Joshua commanded the people to change. And Joshua*lead them out of the wilderness and into the new place that God had for*them. We must not allow religion and tradition to govern our church*services anymore. The youth are dying and running away from the church*and running into the arms of the enemy! Religion is a spirit and we*must stand strong against it. God is doing things the way he wants,*but it's up to us to give him the platform to do it.
