"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. Matthew 29:29 NKJV
Ready for the paradox of Christian living? Salvation is a free gift that will cost you everything.
The Bible is pretty clear about how people can earn God’s grace. They can’t: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Because grace cannot be earned, we describe salvation as a gift. At the same time, it is a gift that comes with a cost: “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me’” (Matthew 16:24).
We give up everything—our lives, relationships, family connections, and claims to property—when we choose to accept God’s call to follow Him. But in giving up everything, God will give us even more. We will receive far more than whatever we give up, and we’ll inherit eternal life.
Stop counting the coast of following God and start counting your blessings.
Prayer: Father, may I have a heart that is willing to give up everything, knowing that You have offered me far more than what I sacrifice.
