This is a true story which is stranger than fiction. I love watching real life dramas and so i came across this one and took it home to watch and learnt a great lesson from it.
Now let me give a short summary of what it was all about.
The story was about 3 college going students, who were studying film making in their college. They were given a project ,to make a short documentary on any topic of their choice. One girl chose to work on a legend about a witch who once lived in a village called the Blair Village(or is it town?)There was a long standing legend that in that village there lived a witch who once lured all the children of that village into the forest and killed them.To support this ,there was actually evidence of several graves of children.
So she asked her three friends to assist her to carry out this project. They went filming their every step. They started by carrying out interviews in the village, then they set out into the forest with all their provisions and their cameras.
When in the forest strange things started happening, witch craft objects would be thrown before them, they would be chased by strange forces bitten etc.In the course of all these things, they lost their way.At one point ,the girl told the others that they might get lost for ever and never be found, but one of the boys blushed the idea away saying,"it can never happen, this is America, sooner or later helicopters will be hoovering over this forest looking for us."
They actually did get lost ,they disappeared one by one without trace and only their video cassette was to be found 5 years later to tell their ordeal.
What amazed me about this story was the fact that these young people even when they were desperately lost, hungry and scared,it never occurred to them to call upon the name of the Lord.People say "Oh my God !"when they are shocked or frightened, but these people never came even closer to calling the name of God,not even, saying oh my gosh.Instead what they would say are such things like,Am so [edit] hungry, tired scared etc.
Its my feeling that the devil would have fled at the mention of the name of God,but it was never mentioned.I have a feeling this children had never heard about God either at home or at school.
Just watch it for yourself, its sad.
