Quite a round figure. truth is, i think it is our gate way out of here.
REVELATION 7.
To my understanding, i think this figure illustrates the chosen.
In the end God choses his children and the rest descend into The Fire.
Shocking to know that a world so huge could only produce such a little figure. Let us all be prepared to be amongst the 144000.
i want you guies to read this, it's quite a short verse and explain your understanding of it. and thanks.

Hi there, scofield, yeah I've heard that - that it'll be only 144,000, 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes John listed as well.

I was taught that that was just a symbolic number, since Ephraim and Dan are not mentioned, but Levi and Joseph are counted as tribes - that's kind of weird. It can also mean the 144,000 that are the church "militant" - those redeemed here on earth, so they're "sealed" from God's wrath per Ezekiel 9:1-11.

I'm not an expert on the Book of Revelation, to be sure. But, that 144,000 figure has to be symbolic. That would be mighty few people compared to the millions who will have called themselves Christians over the church's lifetime.

But read Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.

There will be more than 144,000 chosen as God's children.

Please read this thread for full details (or at least more clarification and in depth details) about the 144,000. It is certainly symbolic number. Remember, GOD uses a lot of symbolism in the book of Revelations. Revelations is not a light book to understand or study. I think its best to study it when you truly feel led by the Spirit to do so and have at least read the rest of the Bible - and studied it as well.

Here is another one from GotQuestions.org

Who are the 144,000?
