Did you know that as Christians we are in a war? Did you know that we are constantly being tested? Almost everyday in some way.
Even Jesus was tempted and tested.
( Matt 16:1; Matt 19:3; Matt 22:18; Matt 22:35; Mark 10:2; Mark 12:15; John 8:6; Luke 11:16; John 6:6; Matt 4:1; Mark 1:13; etc... )
But testing is what determines where we are in our walk with God.
Jas 1:3; knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
1 Pet 4:12; Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
(Some people use the verse below to support a pre-trib rapture)
Rev 3:10; 'Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
God allowed Job to be tested. ( Job 1:8-12; )
Jesus allowed Peter to be tested ( Luke 22:31; )
Leaders in the church are supposed to be tested over a period of time before they are appointed as leaders.
2 Cor 8:22; We have sent with them our brother, whom we have often tested and found diligent in many things, but now even more diligent because of his great confidence in you.
1 Tim 3:10; These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach. ( Also Rev 2:2; )
Abraham was tested.
Heb 11:17; By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;
The church of Smyrna in Revelation was tested.
Rev 2:10; 'Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Our works will be tested.
1 Cor 3:13; each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
Paul tested the Corinthians.
2 Cor 2:9; For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.
We are even told to test ourselves.
2 Cor 13:5; Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?
2 Cor 13:6; But I trust that you will realize that we ourselves do not fail the test.
So why does God allow us to be tested?
Deut 8:2; "You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
1 Pet 1:7; so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Jas 1:2; Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
Jas 1:3; knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
Jas 1:4; And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
1 Pet 1:6; In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

How are doing on your tests?
2 Cor 10:3; For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
2 Cor 10:4; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
2 Cor 10:5; We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
2 Cor 10:6; and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
1 Pet 2:11; Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
Some Christians think this only applies to non-believers, however they aren't in the battle, in fact most of them don't acknowledge they are in a war.
(Interestingly enough, many will ask why God is testing them, or at least ask "Why me?")
Satan doesn't test those who are already his, he doesn't have to. The war for your soul begins when you accept Jesus.
Does your testing show the proof of your faith? Does your testing show your trust in God? ...or ...
Does your testing show disobedience and failure to "take very thought captive"?
1 Cor 9:24; Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
1 Cor 9:25; Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
1 Cor 9:26; Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;
1 Cor 9:27; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
