In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, [being] much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see [Him], yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 1 Peter 1:6-8 NKJV
It would be the rare exception among men living in the Western world that one will have to endure anything close to the kinds of suffering and trials first-century Christians endured in the ancient Roman empire. That should stand as a further challenge to you to endure the difficulties you face with a heart of gratitude.
Nowhere in the Bible does God call men to act as though they enjoy the difficulties life throws their way. On the contrary, God allows you to bring these things to Him and ask for relief, if that is His will.
In the midst of your trials, the Lord calls you to rejoice, but not in the suffering itself. Instead, He calls you to rejoice in the good it does by confirming and refining your faith in Him.
Prayer: Help me, Father, to always remember that You can use the difficulties I face in this life to confirm the genuineness of my faith and to strengthen me in my relationship with You.
