Teach your children

We like to compartmentalize our lives. And in so doing, we often relegate God to Sunday mornings. But here is what the bible says

Deuteronomy 11:

18Therefore you shall lay up these My words in your [minds and] hearts and in your [entire] being, and bind them for a sign upon your hands and as forehead bands between your eyes.

19And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up.

20And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

21That your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

22For if you diligently keep all this commandment which I command you to do, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave to Him--

23Then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

It is so easy just to get ready for work - go through our day and come home too tired to give much energy to anything, let alone making sure we are keeping the Lord always before us!

Many parents have given the raising of their children to day care providers and school and some even Sunday school once a week.

This is not the command that God issued. I realized many parents work, but do we have time for devotions with our kids? Are we too drained from work to make sure the children in our care are well-trained?

Look at verse 23, then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you……… given what I see with terrorist threats and such, I believe we have fallen short of following His command.

Remember 7 days without the Lord makes one weak!!!!

It's funny. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I find that I don't have time
for devotions with my kids. But I know the reason for that, and it
applies to all parents, whether they work or not. If we don't make
time, we'll never have time. Considering that the average attention
span of a young child is 15 minutes or so, we can surely make time
for 15 minutes with a short reading (even just a verse) and a time of
prayer.
