Superabundant Supply

"I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer....and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ" Philippians 1: 19

The Apostle here indicates the arrangements God has made for the Christian believer to receive all the resources he requires to lead the overcoming life. In the promised 'Comforter' or Enabler', we have not only an abundant but a superabundant supply of power. This is what some have described as 'the plus of the Spirit'

The word translated here as 'supply' moves in the realm of plenty. It suggests the lavish generosity of our all gracious God. He gives good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over (Luke 6: 38)
The gift of the Spirit reflects the prodigality of Him who is. in Charles Wesley's line "the bountiful Donour of all we enjoy'

He is 'El-Shaddai'...the all sufficient One, or, as it has been aptly put, the 'enough God'. He is never niggardly in His bestowments. He always gives over and above what is strictly necessary. He is the God of the 'much more' (2 Chron. 25: 9) His enablement far outmatches even our most pressing need.

Can we capture a vision from the scripture's of God's overflowing reservoir of spiritual refreshment available to us in the Holy Ghost? And can we contrast the inexhaustability of this ever fresh supply with the poverty of our own discipleship? The question with which God confronts us here is this: Am I living up to the limit of what God makes possible for me in the Holy Spirit?

There can be only one answer, for of course there is no limit to what God is able to do; and the capacity of even the most devoted may be stretched still further, to recieve yet more and more grace.

Hallelujah! Excellent post brother Stephen. God's promise to "pour out" His Spirit on everyone indicates without measure.

Some years back the Lord gave me this visual example, with a barrel full of water( HolySpirit) one would dip a smaller bucket into the barrel and give it out a bucket at a time, there's no limit to how many bucketfuls you get but your only getting them one at a time. God gives His Spirit by turning over the barrel and pouring out HolySpirit on us in unlimited amounts.
