And Moses said to Aaron, "Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone out from the LORD; the plague has begun." Numbers 16:46 ESV
After the Lord had consumed 250 well-known people in the congregation who assembled against Moses and Aaron, the rest of the congregation grumbled against them too. The Lord planned to consume them also, but Moses acted quickly. You can read what he told Aaron in today’s verse. The Lord relented after 14,700 people were put to death.
Consider Moses’ heart. He didn’t hold a grudge against Israel. Well, if he did, he didn’t let it stop him from taking action to help save them. The same could be said for Aaron. Both men acted on Israel’s behalf as a mediator between Israel and God, even though Israel didn’t deserve it.
Your family will not always agree with your leadership. They may grumble and challenge you. It’s not your job to try to convince them of your authority. Continue to be a steadfast advocate for them in prayer. It’s the best way you can love them.
Prayer: Lord, may my heart never grow bitter toward my family, even when they oppose my spiritual leadership. Instead, may I remain a steadfast advocate for them in prayer.
