Starting Small

READ: Romans 12:9-21

When Elmer Booze walks on stage for a virtuoso piano performance, nobody applauds. That's because he's not a concert pianist, he's a professional page-turner. Although he has music degrees from two universities, Elmer has been content for many years to sit in the shadows. In Washington, D.C., he is a regular at the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, the Canadian Embassy, and the Library of Congress. He has turned pages at the White House and at concerts in New York and London. All the while, Elmer says, he is content with the part he had to play in the performance (CG).

The Elmers of the world teach us a valuable lesson: Success stories in the Christian life don't make the newspaper or evening news. But that doesn't mean God's faithful servants aren't effective in their impact on the world. Jesus Christ, the most amazing person the world has ever known, began His earthly life in a poor family. He lived His entire life in a small, Middle Eastern region that was controlled by the Roman Empire. When His work was finished and He ascended into heaven, Jesus' followers were not many. Yet the Christian faith has spread around the world, unlimited by cultural, religious, or geographic barriers.

When you begin to serve others, you may be starting small, but keep in mind that so much is still ahead of you. You are not even close to being finished with the work God has given you to do. Our deeds of love and service may not seem to be an efficient use of our hours or our energy now, but they are never wasted in God’s eternal plan.

Faith Lesson: "It's better to be faithful than to be famous." --Anon.

Starting small?

:wink:Elmer may not be famous in our standards but while people come and go, Elmers' of this world are always there, faithfully changing the pages.

:groupwave:Be faithful and you'll be famous in God's eyes, in Jesus eyes, in the angels eyes ..the only one in whose :lightningeyes you won't be famous is Satan..but then who cares!

This story hit home for me in a lot of ways. I thought because I couldn't go to work I was less than. But the truth is that when my neighbors needed help I was there for them. Many times they wanted to pay me but I won't accept any payment. Back in those days I told them that by working for them it was helping me. I know now that this was all a part of God's plan for me to get better.

My plan didn't work so I turned it over to God and HE did the rest.

In god's eyes no one is small.

:hands: Giving a helping hand is the most rewarding thing one can do.
:kitten:I save cats, anything that flies & anything on 4 legs. I had 12 cats..was able to place 6 and had 6 fixed and kept them. Yesterday, a woman who feeds the strays in town, came to me saying a 6 mo. old ½ siamese ½ himilyan was abandoned and crying alot. So, I went with her, brought a cage and called the cat and enticed it with food..it was starving. I took it home so now I have 7 cats instead of 6.

:heart-animated: Our hearts are in the right place, whether it's helping people or the animals God gave us to enjoy. When we give unconditionally, God rewards us in ways we can't imagine. I thanked God that He directed the woman to me, she never thought I would take in another cat, she thought that we would take it to the SPCA but I knew the SPCA has over 300 cats and wouldn't take it in. We did call to say if anyone calls for their cat to give them my number.

The cat is so happy, follows me everywhere and the other 6 cats are already getting use to this ..intruder...

Keep it up..God smiles, the angels praise God and the Devil well he :cry-animated:

Keep up the good work and I'll save you a seat at the table in Heaven..

Thanks but i prefer staying in the kingdom on earth

I guess you think all go to heaven but we don't. As we pray to God for His kingdom to come on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN, it means that not everyone will go to heaven otherwise, why would Jesus return?

He is returning to establish the kingdom, paradise that we lost because of our first parents.

:bored:Only 144,000 humans who will be changed into spirit bodies as no human body can go to heaven, to rule with Jesus over the rest of us humans who will live on Earth..not in Heaven, otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for Jesus to return now would it?

It is said that 1000 years on Earth is but a minute in Heaven. I know that Jesus will come and look forward to it. When this happens I'll save you a seat at Heavens table.
