Spiritual Casualties

"Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons."

— 1 Timothy 4:1

It is clear that we are living in the last days. All around us, we see signs being fulfilled before our very eyes that Jesus and the prophets told us to look for. The Bible warns that in the last days things will go from bad to worse (see 2 Timothy 3:1–13). The Scripture also warns that one of the signs of the last days will be a falling away from the faith, or an apostasy.

The question is, could you or I ever become one of those spiritual casualties? Could you or I ever fall away from the Lord? Without question, the potential, even the inclination, to sin is clearly within us. I have the potential to fall. You have it as well.

This is why we must give careful attention to the potential pitfalls that Scripture describes. We must be aware of certain things as we are living in the last days. As the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 13, "The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So don't live in darkness. Get rid of your evil deeds. Shed them like dirty clothes. Clothe yourselves with the armor of right living, as those who live in the light" (verse 12).

This is not a time to be playing games with God and living in half-hearted commitment to Him. The only way to survive as a Christian, and even flourish in these last days, is to be completely committed to Jesus Christ. Otherwise, we will be easy targets for the tactics, strategies, and flaming arrows of the devil.

I like the honesty here, reminding us we are where we are now just because of God's grace, nothing more.

my prayer is that we do not get familiarize with the presence of the living God, we do not get familiarize with the word of God.

may the lord anoint us with fresh anointing of his spirit to keep us burning,,,,,,, keep serving him diligently.

Revelation 21:5
Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."

Amen, we long to experience new things every day

We all have the ability to fall because in the end of days there will be such convincing ways to scam us away from our Faith in God. Recognizing the potential is key though because, I think, this is God's small way of preparing you internally.

An example of why I say this: I had a dream of losing my son when I was around 6 months pregnant; one dream only. This was a week before my next doctor's visit and once there, everything was great. My doctor told me I should start counting movements for the next few days to check his activity. So, when I returned to work I sat at my desk and realized I had yet to feel any movements. An hour had passed, still now movement and after a few hours I called the doctor. (I was high risk due to a previous loss). He told me to come in the following Monday for a Sono. and to calmly pay attention throughout the weekend. I did and there was very little movement. When Monday arrived and the sono. was done, they said everything was fine because he moved 3 different times in 30 mins, he was just a sleepy baby. I did not feel they were right though and I prayed.

Everything following that dream was based on hesitation (unconsciously) and apprehension. Everything I bought I kept in the bag with receipt and more than once actually thought, "Just in case." Immediately following that thought was another - "that is weird, why would I think that? I trust in God and in everything that I do." Needless to say, I made it to the last week and my check up that week went well; steady strong heartbeat and all. All week I had the most unsteady feeling and every single day I prayed that God spare my son if he was going to be severely ill or will not have a fighting chance in this very unforgiving world. (I had that deep-seated feeling it was neurological).

That Friday my water broke early in the morning and we arrived to the hospital a little stressed because the fluid was not the right color. The nurse could not get a reading on the heart beat and so the doctor came in with a portable Sono. machine. He looked at me and said, " I'm sorry there is not heart beat." I was a little confused at first and said, "Are you going to have to do a C-section?" He said, "No, he is gone."

My point of this very long story is I honestly believed the dream I had was God's small way of preparing me; to make it known I would be coming home without my son as my dream revealed. I feel like this was confirmed in the end because I had not considered the dream throughout the last few months, until the last time I held my son. As I sat and cried the dream came flooding back in and I actually stopped crying for a moment. I was in awe of God's awesome power and for the love he felt for me enough to spare my son. All the apprehensiveness and hesitations were not out of doubt in God's abilities, but more so trust in God's warning to spare. He knows what and how much each of us can handle and I honestly believe he does not put more on us than we can handle. I cannot handle (emotionally) mentally challenged individuals (to put it gently) and not in the negative sense. I just hurt seeing a beautiful soul trapped in a broken bod; it's like suffering to me. It's the "suffering" part that gets me, not the broken body.

We must trust in our abilities and our faith in God. We must trust he has our best interest at heart at all times. When we miss the first sign, he will provide another and another...and another until we "get it."
